After thorough investigation, the UK Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) has confirmed that lubricants imported from Lithuania and the UAE are being sold at unfairly low prices, constituting illegal dumping. This practice has been harming domestic producers, undercutting prices by an average of 37%.
In response, the TRA has recommended provisional anti-dumping duties to protect UK manufacturers and restore fair competition. These measures will help safeguard the future of the UK lubricant industry and support local jobs.
The UKLA’s response to the findings is as follows:
The UKLA supports the TRA’s preliminary findings that dumping of certain lubricant products has occurred in the UK market from Lithuania and the UAE which has caused injury and harm to domestic producers and marketers. That this injury has been significant and sustained over an extended period and has destabilised the UK market by offering goods at below cost price compared with the home market of Lithuania and the UAE, and this has caused hardship and suffering to UK domestic producers and marketers at a time when the general domestic and international economic circumstances have been very challenging.
The UKLA are committed to ensuring a fair marketplace for all, and this finding marks an important step towards protecting British businesses from unfair trade practices.
