Arteco launches ECO Coolants for Internal Combustion Engines and New Energy Vehicles

Arteco, a global leader in liquid cooling solutions, announces the launch of its ECO product line across its entire portfolio. The new range can deliver a significantly reduced Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) while keeping the same trusted quality and performance.

Ghent, Belgium – 25 September 2025 – Building on years of innovation in liquid cooling, Arteco is introducing its new ECO coolant portfolio, including the Freecor® product line for internal

combustion engines and the Freecor® EV product line of low electrical conductivity coolants (LECCs) developed specifically for new energy vehicles.

Beyond automotive, the ECO portfolio also supports industrial and data center applications underlying Arteco’s commitment to sustainable innovation in thermal management and cooling in the entire industry.

All products offered under the ECO line deliver a significantly reduced Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) compared to their virgin fossil-based equivalent while keeping the same trusted quality and performance.

Designed for performance today and tomorrow

Arteco’s premium Freecor® and Freecor® EV product lines are purpose-engineered for

exceptional thermal performance and energy efficiency across diverse powertrain technologies. Arteco takes this innovation a step further by introducing an ECO version of these products.

“Our comprehensive life cycle assessment (LCA) studies show that the biggest environmental impact of our coolants comes from fossil-based raw materials at the start of the value chain,”

explains Serge Lievens, Technology Manager at Arteco. “By rethinking those building blocks and incorporating renewable and/or recycled raw materials, we are able to offer products with

significantly lower climate impact, without compromising on high quality and performance standards.”

What makes ECO different

Arteco’s ECO coolants incorporate base fluids derived from bio-based or recycled feedstocks, allocated through a certified mass balance approach. This method enables the integration of sustainable raw materials into existing production systems while ensuring full traceability and third-party certification across the supply chain. These base fluids, Monoethylene Glycol (MEG) or Monopropylene Glycol (MPG) are traditionally virgin grade material, derived from fossil resources. Our ECO products help decrease reliance on virgin fossil resources. To confirm the traceability and reliability of this process, Arteco has obtained the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS for its mass balance approach towards more sustainable resources.

The benefits of our ECO coolants are demonstrated by a significantly reduced Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) compared to traditional virgin fossil-based equivalents. Choosing Arteco’s ECO

products helps Arteco’s customers take a step forward towards their net zero objectives linked to scope 3 emissions, without compromising on quality or performance.

“At Arteco, we firmly believe the future of cooling must be sustainable,” concludes Alexandre Moireau, General Manager at Arteco. “Our ACT – Accelerate Change Together – sustainability strategy focuses on three key areas: climate action, smart use of resources, and care for people and communities. This new family of ECO coolants is a natural extension of that commitment. In fact, sustainability for us is a continuous journey, one where we keep researching, innovating, and collaborating to create better, cleaner cooling solutions.”
